MEASURING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF YOUR LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATION CUSTOMS

Without measurement, it is impossible to set goals, or to know how you are doing toward those goals. The Organizational Customs Survey (OCS) and the Leadership Customs Survey (LCS) have been validated in over 300 organizations, involving tens of thousands of people, with reliability in excess of 90%. They are excellent vehicles to help you set a baseline, and determine how much progress has been made.

Each survey consists of 30 items, which take 5-10 minutes to rate. The completed surveys are then sealed in an envelope, and mailed to the Wilfred Jarvis Institute for scoring. This way the respondents can be assured of total anonymity.

Results are available for the entire organization, or for individual work units, as long as there are enough respondents to preserve anonymity. As a result of the surveys, areas of relative strengths and weaknesses can be identified, which will become candidates for the next step, diagnosis and solution generation, using GroupSmart technology.

During the diagnosis, participants use GroupSmart laptops to identify and agree on systemic causes of problem areas. Once the causes are well understood, they will begin to brainstorm solutions. Best solution ideas will be adopted, and an action plan will be created within each work unit.

After 9-12 months, the surveys can be re-run to validate success.
